POWER OF LIGHT
What I really like about woodland photography is the excitement in hunting for light. That dark moody forest really explode if I manage to find that spot of light shining down through the tree tops.
The excitement when I stumble upon a possible composition are so satisfying and thrilling. It doesn't matter how long I have to wait until I get the light I hoped for, and many times I don't get it. But the excitement are still real, just have to have another go sometimes later.
Have had two tries on this one before I finally bagged it. Had to do some slightly adjustments along the way as that light did move a round a bit.
I wanted light on the Fern in the foreground and between those trees in the background, but the light kept on moving around through the composition. For a while I was afraid I had to end this try too, but after about 40 min the light stopped as close to my pre-visualisation as I could hope for so I decided to make some small adjustments to my framing and just press the button. I manage to get about 5 minutes before the light moved again, so I get a few shot I could work with back at my computer.
It may sound a little strange when I say the light was moving around, but that's just the cloud movement Infront of the sun. Need to take your time when photographing woodland, at least when your in the forest, but the same applies wherever you are. The longer you wait, the higher your chance for amazing light.
Just remember to take some shots while you're waiting as you never know when the lights gone. Then you at least have some images to work on when you're back home. I believe that's better than having no images.
I'm satisfied with the result I got this time. I think the light did give me that depth in the image I was looking for, and the patients did pay of this time, something that's may not be the case the next time your out photographing.
